I’m a man’s man
And can run with the best of them, The strongest, The bravest, The smartest. I’m my father’s son, full of testosterone. He loved my mother, I tried to love everyone. I’m fine-tuned as fined-tuned can be, chiseled to the ninth degree, among men, I’m a pedigree. I’m smarter than the average man, in my head, I’ve worked my plan, to take life on without regret. ‘Cause I don’t need no safety net. Lady, run with me, Be mine to hold, You were born to be my woman, With you I can be bold, And leave the rest of the world behind in your dust, It’s not about them, it’s all about us. I’m a man’s man And can run with the best of them, the strongest, The bravest, The smartest. I’m a metro man, Bronzed and tanned, Dressed impeccably, I’m a fashion statement come alive, trimmed and primed, I take great pride in being best dressed, And what I show the world, I’m prepared to run past the rest. In my determination I want to grab the gold ring, It’s a beautiful thing, it’s a beautiful thing. There’s only one thing I need to know, That you are with me and we’re ready to go, I’m now a one-woman man. So love me baby, Just love me baby, like only you can. Lady, run with me, Be mine to hold, You were born to be my woman, With you by my side we can be bold, And leave the rest of the world in the dust. It’s not about them, It’s just about us, Yes, I’m a man’s man And can run with best of them, the strongest, The bravest, The smartest. I’m a man’s man And can run with the best of them, with you by my side, so let’s get to running, let’s find our stride.

So much for living the good life, my money is now gone,
I thought the stream was endless, but I was so very wrong. It’s not that I’m dead broke, And lost my very last dime, But two dimes rubbed together, Don’t equate to a Colorado gold mine. Without money, I’m nowhere, At this age I want to be, It rattles my brain and scrambles my mind, because I can no longer play, With my circle of friends. I guess it’s all about money, I guess this is where these friendships end, but that’s now ok with me. I never belonged, lacked pedigree, I’m more of a common man, Who lucked out until today, Once I could buy into any club, As along as the members looked away. I think I will start my own club, defined by a separate set of rules, I will have but only one member, but it will be a ship of fools. I will be the chiefdom, I will be the man, I will be the Sergeant at Arms, I will be who and what I can, Knowing that no one will be lining up at my door Cost of membership will be one single cent, And not a penny more. My club will be restricted, it won’t let just anyone in, It will be a secret club, Without a beginning or an end. A club I now will belong to, As I sit in my parlor alone, I guess I’m still one lucky man, They still haven’t taken my home. So it is what it is and will be what it will be, the next time I earn a cent, It will not be taken from me. I wish to find the magic in everything I see,
And concoct it into one small morsel, And bring it back home with me, To give it to you as I planned, when I went away, My quest is done, finally won, I give to you Today. Today, is all we have, there is no guarantee, That there will be another tomorrow following close behind. We should not take each day for granted as we travel through, We should view everything and everyone as something very new. So spread your wings and fly with me through this special time, Just lose your fears, no more tears and open up your mind. We have just this single day, to live through our dreams, A single day, no such way, an eternity it seems. So let’s scale the great white Andres, And sail the rough waters of the Northern Sea, Let’s fly a zephyr through the clouds, And go on a living spree. And I will take the moisture from the air, And the sunlight from the sky, And the magic from everyone’s touch, and the truth from every alibi. And concoct it into one small morsel, And bring it home with me, To give to you, as I promised when I went away, My quest is done, I finally won, I give to you Today. So let’s run the fastest mile, And jump higher than any man has ever leaped before, And write magical words that bring on peace and war deters, And knock on every window and open every door. Because Today is all we have, there is no guarantee, That there will be another tomorrow following close behind. We should not take each day for granted as we travel through, We should see everything and everyone as something very new. So love me like you never dared to love another man, Squeeze me till my breath burns out, love me till I burst a spout, Give me every ounce of passion that you have, Make me cry and want to die, make me pray for another day, So that you can burn me out. The Starbucks closed,
I feel hosed, I need my caffeine fix right away, It’s a dark beginning to a quiet and desperate day. The ATM’s down, But who’s the clown, I have my rent and nothing more, The wealth I have is just a tad, It won’t even get me through the door. My girl, she’s gone, I drove her away by my carrying on, I just couldn’t keep my hands to myself, I’m just a desperate man without a plan, She’s gone, she’s had enough. The Starbucks closed, I feel hosed, I need my caffeine fix right away, It’s a dark beginning to a quiet and desperate day. My car, she’s down, My only transportation is my feet on the ground, And there are miles to go before I sleep, My legs are rubbery and worn, It’s the lack of a midday nap that I mourn, And I hear nothing from you, not even a peep. The IRS is after me, They never leave me alone, They garnished my wages and put a lien on my home, The government, it’s done nothing for me, Except send me to Iraq with the 15th infantry. My dog, she died, She was the only being I could confide, She just wore out her years, The thought of her just brings me to tears, There’s no dog in my life anymore, My life has no meaning, my life’s just a bore. The Starbucks closed, There’s gotta be a Dunks somewhere in town, Guess I’ll just wipe off this silly frown, after all I’m Dunkin' Donuts bound. |
